29 December 2007, Lake Kerkini, Greece the flock of 17 LWfG was seen at the mouth of Strymonas river in Kerkini. There was one juvenile and the two colour ringed birds (Black Red Left and Red White Right) and they were together with 3 WfG. They left the delta at around 10:30 and flew as usual to Trigono. Thodoros Naziridis was there and he saw only one adult, which means that they might have stayed in the openings of the forest. I also looked for them later in Trigono, but I didn't find them. 13 December, 2007, Evros Delta, Greece The situation is similar to 7 December; Among a group of 450 WfG observed this morning there were: Finn and Nieida with 4 juveniles, a pair (one parent with yellow ring on the right leg) with 4 juveniles, an unringed pair with 4 juveniles, 6 adult unringed birds. 7 December, 2007, Evros Delta, Greece Today 24 LWfG was seen mixed with white-fronted geese. Finn & Nieida has 4 juveniles not 3 as originally thought. One of the juveniles are moving sometimes quite far from the rest of the family. This means that Finn & Nieida has lost just 1 juvenile (between Valdak & Hortobágy). The total in Greece should then be 57 LWfG, with 24 birds in Evros and 33 in Kerkini. Source: Eleni Makriyanni / LWfG Life project team.

3 December, 2007, Evros Delta, Greece Today 23 LWfG was seen together with 450 WfG and 2 red-breasted geese. The flock consisted of one pair (orange red left and red white left – Finn & Nieida) with 3 juveniles, one unringed pair with 4 juveniles, one pair (yellow right and unringed) with 4 juveniles and 6 unringed adults. This means that Finn & Nieida has lost two juveniles since Valdak, while the Yellow right female still has all her four goslings that where seen at Valdak in late August. The total in Greece is 56 LWfG, with 23 birds in Evros and 33 in Kerkini. Source: Eleni Makriyanni / LWfG Life project team.

29 November, 2007, Evros Delta, GreeceThe first LWfG have arrived in the Evros Delta for this winter, which is one month earlier that in 2006 (probably because of the high waterlevel in Kerkini). The flock numbers at least 10 birds of which 3 adult pairs (one bird with orange-red left leg: Finn). They use the same spot for hours. It is confined and the same as preferred last year. The vegetation is high and the group is very mixed with WfG. Source: Eleni Makriyanni / LWfG Life project team.

22 August 2007, Valdak Marshes, Finnmark, Norway In the evening a flock of 66 LWfG landed at the Valdak Marshes. Yesterdays count of juveniles was beaten with 5 birds, so the production this year seems to be approximately 33 juveniles. It is the highest autumn countat the Valdak Marshes since 1995 and highest number of juveniles since 2002!! Totally six birds with colour rings were counted. One of these had not been seen during the spring staging period at Valdak. Source: Tomas Aarvak & Ingar Øien/LWfG Life project team.

It seems that the juvenile production has been good this summer, with approximately 28 juveniles registered so far.
